CHITRAL: Major Muhammad Asghar of 143 wing of Chitral Scouts embraced martyrdom after contracting the coronavirus in the line of duty at the Torkham border.
Major Asghar of Chitral Scouts (Frontier Corps) was supervising screening of people for COVID-19 at the Pak-Afghan border during which he suffered breathing problems.
He was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar and put in a ventilator after his condition deteriorated. He passed away at the hospital on Monday.
The ISPR said the 37-year-old officer belonged to Karachi and had joined the army’s Punjab Regiment in 2007.
