COVID-19 cases rise to 12 as two more test positive
CHITRAL: COVID-19 cases rose to 12 in Chitral as two more test positive in Lower Chitral district on Sunday.
Muhammad Ilyas, 36, son of Abdul Qudus, a resident of Singoor, was on quarantine at Govt Commence College hostel after returning from Lahore.
Mr Wazir, 52, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Chumorkhon, was also quarantined at Govt Commence College hostel upon his return from Peshawar.
Both patients have now been admitted to the isolation ward of the DHQ hospital Chitral.
With these two cases, the total number of COVID-19 patients in Chitral increased to 12 – nine in Lower and three in Upper Chitral.
The first confirmed case of the coronavirus in Chitral was reported on April 19. Within the last one week, the number had increased to 12.
Except one, all the confirmed patients were infected outside Chitral.
There are hundreds of people in quarantine centres in Lower Chitral and some of them are waiting for their laboratory results.
On the other hand, a majority of returnees in Upper Chitral have been sent home with an instruction by the district administration to remain on isolation back home.
The first confirmed case in Upper Chitral emerged on April 21 and so far there are three positive cases.–Bashir Hussain Azad
