Ehsaas emergency cash agents booked
LASPUR: Police in Laspur booked three persons on the charge of taking money from the beneficiaries of the Ehsaas emergency cash programme.
The federal government is delivering Rs12,000 per person to those most affected by the coronavirus lockdown in the country.
Agents distributing Ehsaas emergency cash are strictly directed not to deduct any amount from the Rs1,2000. The citizens have been asked to report if any agent receives any fee from the beneficiaries.
During the distribution of the cash in Gasht and other areas of Laspur, it was alleged that the three persons took Rs300 to Rs400 from each beneficiary as a fee.
The police registered a case against the three men but they obtained bail before arrest from a court in Booni.
Millions of rupees have been distributed among the needy people across Chitral. The beneficiaries were selected after they registered themselves by texting to 8171.
The financial assistance under the programme is meant to help the people affected by the coronavirus lockdown to buy rations so that they don’t go hungry.
The programme covers 12 million families; Rs12,000 per family with the total budget of Rs144 billion.
More funds are expected to the deserving people across the country in the next phases.
