Section 144 imposed, public transport banned

CHITRAL: The district administration of Chitral on Thursday imposed Section 144 as a step to check the spread of coronavirus in the district.

Under Section 144, gathering of five or more than five people will be banned in all restaurants, eateries, fast food outlets, beauty parlours, wedding/marriage halls, cattle fares, seminars, workshops etc.

An announcement by Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Naveed Ahmed said the ban will remain in force for 30 days.

He said violation of Section 144 will be punishable under Section 188 of the PPC.

Meanwhile, Chitral police announced that from midnight today (March 19), there will be a ban on all passenger vehicles such as buses, wagons and taxis in Chitral. Only private vehicles will be allowed on roads.

As many as 22 vehicles carrying about 180 tourists to Chitral were not allowed entry from Lowari tunnel on the direction of the district administration on Thursday.
