PESHAWAR: Mujeebur Rehman, the district health officer (DHO) of Lower Chitral, has been transferred and directed to report to the DG health services in Peshawar.
A notification issued by the KP health department said the DHO of Upper Chitral will be looking after the health department of Lower Chitral till the appointment of a new DHO.
The transfer of the DHO at a time when there was the looming threat of COVID-29 outbreak in Chitral raised eyebrows.
Both the districts are poorly equipped to deal with any health emergency situation.
Moreover, as the country was in the grip of the crisis, it is unlikely that the government would be in a position to provide all missing facilities to the hospitals in both Lower and Upper Chitral.
