Chinese national not infected by coronavirus: DC

CHITRAL: Rumours spread on social media on Monday that a Chinese national has been admitted to hospital in Drosh after contracting the coronavirus.

However, Deputy Commissioner lower Chitral Naveed Ahmed after visiting the THQ hospital said the Chinese working on a project in Chitral was suffering from a stomach pain.

Later in the day, the patient was discharged from the hospital.

After the outbreak of novel coronavirus in Wuhan municipality of China, Beijing  has locked down that area. Pakistan temporarily suspended flights to and from China for a few days.

Extraordinary steps are being taken to screen people travelling out of Chitral fearing the virus might spread in the world.

The DC in Chitral said legal action would be taken against those who spread rumours on social media that the Cinese man admitted to the THQ hospital Drosh was infected with coronavirus.
