Mansoor gets award for revitalizing Khowar folk songs

ISLAMABAD: Legend of Khowar music Mansoor Ali Shabab was given Mountain Music Award by DEVCOM Pakistan at COMSATS University in Islamabad on Wednesday in recognition of  his services for revitalizing and performing the centuries-old Khowar folk songs and tunes in their original and true essence.
The event was attended by British Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan, Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, internationally renowned mountaineer Mr Nazir Sabir, the brain of RSPs Shoaib Sultan, iconic artist from Gilgit-Baltistan Jan Ali Jan and Abdul Ghafoor Chillasi among others.
The event was organized on International Mountain Day, and was meant to appreciate and recognize the services and achievements of people of mountainous regions in various fields of life.
Mansoor Ali Shabab received the award from the British deputy high commissioner and Mr Jan Ali Jan.
Mr Shabab also participated in a table talk along with other key achievers. On the pressing demand of the audience, he also performed a couple of Khowar songs and mesmerized the audience.
