Govt depts asked to ensure 2pc job quota for special persons

CHITRAL: Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Naveed Ahmed on Thursday asked heads of all departments to ensure the implementation of recent Supreme Court direction regarding two per cent job quota of persons with disabilities in their respective departments.

He was speaking at an open forum arranged for persons with disabilities held on the premises of the DC office.

He said facilities such as accessibility should be provided to the special persons in hospitals and other health units and departments.

Ensuring facilities to the special persons is the responsibility of everyone in order to make them useful citizens of the country.

On a complaint, the DC promised to carry out an investigation against alleged induction of undeserving persons on quota seats reserved for special persons using fake medical certificates.

Sanaullah, a representative of the special persons, highlighted issues being faced by persons with disabilities.

He said the job quota for special persons was not being followed, there were no arrangements for easy access to public departments by special persons, the rehabilitation centre set up in 1997 could not be upgraded while persons with disabilities were not getting their share of the sports fund.–Bashir Hussain Azad
