TMA Mastuj staff not paid salaries for four months
BOONI: The employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Mastuj have not been paid their salaries for the last four months, a leader of Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam told ChitralToday here.
Muhammad Pervez Lal said there are 35 staff, including the tehsil municipal officer (TMO), whose salaries were stopped soon after the expiry of the local government governments in August this year. He said the monthly salaries of the 35 staff amounted to Rs0.6 million.
The tenure of the local governments in KP expired on Aug 28 and new elections were to be held by Dec 27. However, according to a recent report, the holding of the polls seems not possible within the prescribed period and may be delayed.
The salaries of the TMA Mastuj staff were stopped due to unknown reasons while the TMA Mulkhow employees are getting their pays as usual.
Some of the TMA staff in Booni said they were facing lots of hardship due to stoppage of their salaries. They said while inflation was rising, non-payment of the salaries was a big injustice with the staff.
Mr Pervez said the affected staff had approached the Tehreek to raise voice for them. He said he had requested the authorities concerned to release the salaries without further delay otherwise the Tehreek would announce a protest.
