Langlands School closed for ‘a few days’; guards disarmed
CHITRAL: The Langlands School and College on Tuesday evening announced that all sections of the institute would remain closed for ‘a few days’ due to the lack of discipline on part of certain elements.
The announcement comes as the deadline set by teachers and other staff of the school for the authorities to replace the principal.
The teachers and other staff had said if their demand was not met by Oct 9, they would announce their next strategy.
Security guards disarmed
Meanwhile, incharge of the Langlands School and College security section Inam Ullah in an application to the Chitral police said an accountant of the school took away all weapons and walkie-talkies from security guards of all the three sections of the school.
He said in case of any untoward situation in the school he and other teachers would not be responsible and the police should ensure security of the premises.
On the request, the SHO of the Chitral police station sent police personnel to the school.
In a earlier development, the commissioner of Malakand division stated that the Langlands school was not being taken over. He reiterated the government resolve to back the embattled principal Carey Schofield without hinting at probing the allegations levelled against her by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school.
