Man rescued after being trapped between two rivers

CHITRAL: A man, who was described as mentally disturbed by the locals of Melp in Torkhow, was found trapped at the confluence of rivers Torkhow and Terich early on Sunday and rescued.

Zar Rahim, son of Sher Balang of Melp, set out from his house to fetch some medicine from Booni on Saturday night. However, at about 6am on Sunday a passerby noticed Rahim trapped among the two rivers and informed the villagers who alerted the police. However, it is not clear how the man ended up between the two rivers.

The police and local people tried but failed to reach out to the stranded man due to high volume of water in the rivers. As a result, they called Rescue 1122 Chitral whose personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the man safely.
