Kalash community set to observe Indigenous Peoples Day on 9th

BUMBURATE: The Kalash community is all set to observe the World Indigenous Peoples Day to be held on Aug 9.

In this regard, preparations have been finalized in the three valleys of Birir, Rumbur and Bumburate.

Kalasha Dur chairman Bakhtawar Shah told ChitralToday that religious leaders, elders and people from different walks of life from the three valleys would take part in the main event to be held at Kalasha Dur in Bumburate.

During the gathering, Kalash elders will narrate Kalash folk stories and shed light on the language of the area. Besides, schools will arrange programmes to highlight the importance of the Kalash culture and traditions.

To witness the celebrations, tourists from other parts of Chitral will also visit Bumburate on Aug 9.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
