Labour union activists demand basic rights for working class

CHITRAL: On the International Labour Day on Wednesday, union and rights activists here demanded that the government should ensure basic facilities to the working class and provide education to their children.

In this regard, a rally was taken out in Chitral in which the participants demanded proper wages for the workers.

Labour unions held the rally in which the speakers, including PPP labour wing president Anis Uddin, traders union president Shabbir Ahmed, Ulema wing’s Qari Nizamuddin, drivers’ union’s Iqbal Hayat and PPP youth wing’s Sajjad Akhund said the government should also build houses for the labourers.

They said the working class in the country was still being exploited and not being given their due rights. They said it was a pity that those who spent their life working for others were being denied their basic rights.

The participants of the rally were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans for the rights of the labourers.
