Chitral’s first ever snow sports festival inaugurated

CHITRAL: The first ever snow sports festival of Chitral started in the snowbound Madaklasht valley which will continue for three days. The event was inaugurated by district nazim Maghfirat Shah.

Madaklasht is highly suitable for snow sports and locals have for decades been playing skiing here but it is for the first time that the district government has arranged the sports festival this year.

The district nazim said due to government patronage, the local talent in snow sports could not be promoted. Now the district government has decided to provide all-out support to the event and organize it every year, he added.

President Hindukush Sports Association president Hisaamul Mulk and member Tehsil Council Shahzada Khalid Pervez said the festival was to be held at the national level but due to inclement weather it was being participated only by local players this year.–Syed Nazir Hussain
