‘CHEPS to play role in Clean & Green Pakistan Programme’
ISLAMABAD: Environment activists and political workers from Chitral met PTI government’s ministers here and offered their support for the Clean and Green Pakistan Programme launched across the country by the federal government.
In a statement issued to ChitralToday, Chitral Heritage and Environment Protection Society (CHEPS)’ Chairman Rehmat Ali Jaffar Dost said during meetings with Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Environment Malik Amin Aslam Khan in Islamabad, his organization was asked to come up with proposals to be incorporated in the Clean and Green Programme. The two government functionaries also became members of CHEPS.
The statement said PTI Chitral leaders Irshad Saboor and Sultan Mehmood and others also accompanied Mr Rehmat Ali during the meetings. The government functionaries were briefed about activities CHEPS has carried out across the country, especially in Chitral, for the conservation and protection of environment and natural resources.
On the request of the CHEPS chief, Ms Wazir promised to arrange an office for CHEPS in Islamabad to facilitate it in carrying out its activities in coordination with the Ministry of Climate Change.
According o the statement, the CHEPS head also met Inspector General of Motorway Police A.D. Khowaja who became a member of the environment organization and promised to take CHEPS on board to launch a tree plantation drive on the motorways.
May I request the MNA, MPAs and those others who are at the helm of affairs to fully support Rehmat Ali Jaffar Dost and his brain child CHEPS as he has been doing a remarkable job for the last many years. Rehmat Ali is not a highly educated person but he has charismatic qualities and yearning for really a ‘Clean and Green’ Pakistan. Given genuine support CHEPS’ mission could be a great success.
