Post-snowfall cold wave grips upper Chitral villages
YARKHUN: A severe cold wave has gripped all parts of upper Chitral after heavy snowfall a day earlier.
The cold wave hit the area after the weather turned sunny. Nighttime temperatures have dipped to minus five to 10 in most remote villages. The cold wave has increased the demand for firewood and people are mostly seen confined to their houses.
Mainly very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the valley, according to the Met Office in Islamabad.
However, more rain-thunderstorm with snow over the hills is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Today’s lowest minimum temperature was three degrees centigrade in Chitral town and Drosh and one degree in Mirkhani.
