Authority’s role to regulate private schools demanded
CHITRAL: Local residents have demanded the extension of the role of the Private Schools Regulatory Authority to Chitral region to check exploitation by private schools.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Jughoor village nazim Sajjad Ahmed Khan said Chitral district had more than 200 privately-owned schools, which needed to be regulated.
He said unfortunately, no authority existed to check the affairs of private schools, especially exploitation by them, and safeguarding the rights of students.
The nazim said the people preferred sending their children to private schools instead of government ones due to quality education being offered there but the fee charged by them was very high.
He said though private schools promoted the cause of education in the district, their fee structure needed to be rationalised in line with the standards set by the government.
The nazim claimed that many schools overcharged students.
He saidif the PSRA’s jurisdiction was extended to Chitral, the local residents would heave a sigh of relief.
TEACHERS APPOINTED: The education department hasappointed 125 teachers of different cadres many boys’ schools in Chitral district to fill vacancies.
The appointments were made six months after written tests were conducted for them.
