Dawn staffer’s house burgled

ISLAMABAD: Burglars struck at the home of a Dawn staffer on Saturday night and robbed him of cash and valuables.

Lohi Bher police have registered an FIR into the incident and begun working on arresting the robbers.

Zar Alam Khan, a resident of Media Town, told the police that his wife was at a relative’s house in the evening so he had locked the house and gone to work.

When he returned home late at night, he found that his home had been robbed.

Speaking to Dawn, he said the burglars broke the grill in the bedroom, at the back of the house, and entered.
“There was cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs400,000 in the house. After stealing these things, they opened the kitchen lock and returned from the back,” he said.

Mr Khan said Lohi Bher SHO Jamsheed Khan visited his house with other officials and said because construction was going on in the plot adjacent to his house, there was a strong possibility that someone would have entered from there, as there is barbed wire at the rear of the house.

SHO Khan told Dawn said that a gang of burglars was active in the area as some more similar incidents have already taken place in the limits of police station.

“We have already arrested some of the members of the gang and I am hopeful that we will find some clue about them and the valuables will be recovered,” he said.
