Chitral’s Fouzia Bibi among 20 lawmakers accused of selling votes
ISLAMABAD: The name of women’s reserved seat MPA from Chitral Fouzia Bibi is among 20 lawmakers who are suspected of selling their votes for millions of rupees in the recent Senate election.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced that his party was taking action against 20 lawmakers for participating in horse trading.
He said the party would give the accused a chance to explain before their names are forwarded to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Mr Khan claimed that PTI, by expelling nearly “30 per cent of its leaders”, was “truly protecting the sanctity of the vote” and wondered if other political parties will follow suit.
“This is not the first time lawmakers have taken part in horse trading,” Khan said. “This has been happening for the past 30 or 40 years.”
The PTI chief said that the accused lawmakers had received as much as Rs40 million each and added that the party will issue a show-cause notice to them.
Khan lauded other members of his party who “resisted the temptation” to take large sums of money offered to them by other parties.
Last month, Dawn.com had learned that at least 17 PTI lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa allegedly sold their votes during the Senate election enabling two PPP candidates to be elected to the Senate from the province where the PPP only has seven MPAs.
An initial investigation ordered by KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak into alleged horse-trading had revealed that at least 17 ─ and as many as 20 ─ PTI MPAs in KP had voted for candidates outside the party, sources in CM House Peshawar and Bani Gala had told DawnNewsTV.
She will not get the respect even if she joins any other political party. Lady luck never smiles on everyone all the time like it did in Fozia’s case. She has come in media spotlight within a very short span of time. She had strengthen her career within no time. But with the allegations of selling out her votes, she lost everything. She had no no option now except except opening a veterinary center in Chitral as it is a lucrative business. Good luck Fozia.
My sister Fouzia bibi you are not PPP or ANP,s member of parliament so you get money and gives some percent to them and buy some plots but it’s PTI. Imran Khan would not be wrong. Your poor mentality showed and distried your career and lossing trust on Chitral. Good advice for you is ,resigne from the party and join PPP or ANP. They will support you in future.good luck
Who says Chitrali women lag behind. This woman could never have even imagined one day she would reach the assembly. Her party even made her parliamentary secretary for tourism in KP. She was in good books of Imran Khan and could have been allotted ticket in next election. But if the allegation that she sold her vote is true our Bibi not only betrayed her party for money but also brought a very bad name to Chitral.
so sad to know abt.
