CHITRAL: Former MPA Ghulam Muhammad and JI’s Fazle Rabbi announced to join the PPP during a workers’ convention of the party in the presence of former president Asif Ali Zardari. PPP MPAs from Chitral, Salim Khan and Sardar Hussain were also present.
Ghulam Muhammad was MPA from upper Chitral from the platform of the PML. He was again elected on a APML ticket in 2013. However, he lost the seat to Sardar Hussain when election was held again in seven polling stations on a petition of the PPP candidate. He then joined the JUI but was suspended over internal differences in the party.
Fazle Rabbi remained associated with Jamaat-e-Islami for long but had to leave the party over differences in allocation of tickets for the 2018 elections.
A few days ago, PPP workers from upper Chitral had opposed the joining of their party by the firmer MPA. They were of the view that allocation of ticket to the newcomer would not be acceptable to the old guards of the party.
