CHITRAL: Wildlife department is misusing Broghil national park funds, alleged village council nazim Amin Tajik.
About Broghil national park funds, Broghil Village Council (VC) nazim Amin Jan Tajik told ChitralToday that Broghil was declared a national park in 2010. However, after the announcement, he added, the government did not allocate funds even for the purchase of vehicles or appointed the required staff.
He said in 2015, Imran Khan visited the area and announced sufficient funds to materialize the project through the wildlife department of KP. The nazim said that in 2016 tests and interviews were held for the hiring of 12 naib qasids, deputy rangers, social mobilizers, drivers and watchers were held. But after the process, no appointment letters were issued to the successful candidates belonging to the valley.
Mr Tajik said that to the dismay of the local youths, the government appointed a couple of people belonging to outside Chitral as the social mobilizer and special district forest officer. But these officials neither understand the local language nor know about the geography of the Broghil valley, he lamented.
The nazim said that the wildlife department was playing a game with the local people to take away all the benefits of the mega project depriving the local youth of their right to get low level jobs in their area.
He said that Imran Khan was emphasizing making Broghil a national park not only to preserve the natural environment but also to bring a change in the lives of the locals and eliminate poverty in the area. However, he added, the wildlife department was trying to embezzle the funds and induct blue-eyed people from outside Chitral on different posts created under the project.
The nazim appealed to the PTI chief to order an investigation into the matter and issue appointment letters to the candidates belonging to the Broghil valley.
