Communities given Rs1.2m for repair of water channels
Those who received the cheques included village conservation body representatives from Goldur Chitral, Koghuzi, Mori lower, Doroongah, Reshun and Xang Bazaar Chitral. Speaking at a function held to distribute the cheques, Safdar Ali Shah, the conservator wirldlife Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a limited amount of funds was being handed over to the communities to accomplish the repair and rehabilitation work. He said the Snow Leopard Foundation was a non-profit organization which aimed at preserving the snow leopard in the country. He said there were many people who raised objections that the organization was working only for the protection of the wildlife not human being. Others who also spoke on the occasion included SLF country director Dr Ali Nawaz, DFO forest Salim Marwat, Sarwar Shah, retired professor Rehmat Karim Baig and Hussain Ahmed.
