Airport area cleared of garbage by civil society activists

cheps On Saturday, the awareness campaign was organized under the auspices of CHEPS with the civil society and notables, youths and inhabitants of Balach in attendance. The campaign started with the burning down of the damped garbage from the Government High School Balach. Some of the residents of Balach also participated in the campaign. The participants cleaned all the rappers lain along the road and streets. First these garbage were piled up and then by sprinkling petrol and kerosene burnt down. It was really an inspiring beginning to blaze up the spark of awareness among the civil society. Rehmat Ali Jauohar Dost, the chairman CHEPS stressed the importance of a clean environment in each vicinity so that the real essence of cleanliness as envisaged in Islam can be acquired. It was decided that a committee known as Green Club Balach would be formed and assigned the task that on each Sunday the civil society under the supervision of Mr. Gulabud Din, Green Club Balach, will carry out a cleanliness campaign in the streets, roads and the area where people damp their garbage. cheps2 The TMO office will develop a mechanism for the proper disposing of the damped garbage in the allotted places away from the populated area. All the participants in the campaign promised that they would also mobilize their family members and neighbors in order to ensure a proper disposal of the garbage. They will not throw garbage into drains. One of the social activists of teh area, Liaqat Ali, applauded the youths and said if the youths are involved in such cleanliness campaigns they would become active and patriotic citizens. He also advised the youths to take the message home that their family members will not throw empty bottles, shoppers and garbage on the road rather will dispose them of in the respective places so that Balach can be developed into a model town with clear and clean environment. At the end of the campaign, all the participants extended their appreciation to DC Chitral and the TMO to provide vehicles and helping hands for their support. It is expected from the DC and TMO that support will lead towards better pollution free model town which will be a unique and source of inspiration for the visitors.     It is really a good step to keep the area clean and tidy, but it should not be one off exercise.On the main roads the municipal should provide dust bin facilities and the people should have the habit of putting the rubbish in to it.Schools and colleges should train the students to use them regularly.we only teach theoretical concepts of cleanliness but we ignore the practical aspect how to do it.
