Mastuj residents warn of protest from Dec 3
An emergency meeting chaired by Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk and attended by other notables of the area was held at Mastuj on Monday. A resolution was passed, making it clear to the district administration that any negligence in ensuring transparent distribution of cheques among the affected people would be resisted.
Talking to ChitralToday on phone from Mastuj, Shahzada Sikandar said through the resolution “we made it clear to the district administration that any attempt to treat the people of upper Chitral like children of lesser God will have serious repercussions.”
After the visit of Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Hamidullah Khan Khattak over the weekend followed by a telephonic conversation with Deputy Commissioner Chitral Osama Ahmad Waraich, people of the area were optimistic that the issue would be resolved.
However, he regretted that the district administration was acting as a silent spectator despite knowing that subdivision Mastuj was the worst affected area in the recent earthquake.
“If this remained the attitude of the administration towards us, we would be left with no option but to assemble at Mastuj bazaar on Dec 3. We decided to hold a peaceful demonstration on Dec 3 in which people from Laspur to Parwak and from Parwak to Yarkhun Lasht will take part. We’ll finalize out future line of action if the issue remained unresolved,” he warned.
At the same time, Shahzada Sikandar said the protest demonstration could be called off if the administration succeeded in resolving the issue in time, adding, “we would not cancel the protest if the administration approached us at the last minute.”
“The issue is very simple. I’ve given a detailed briefing to the AC Mastuj that why the irregularities took place. Who is responsible for all this? Despite the passage of a week, there is no response from the administration and this has left us with no option but to take to the streets,” he maintained.]]>
Ghalum Mustab sb is educated, trustworthy and notable person. Every members of UC Mastuj know very well about him. Why do you put baseless allegation on him? Please forget the past; I know this is your personal grievances.
no one says Mustafa is not a good man. indeed he is a very good man. but as member of district council chitral people say he accommodated undeserving persons in lists for compensations whose houses had minor damages. instead of giving clean chit to anyone facing any accusation, we should refer the matter to probe and mustafa and all other councillors and patwaris should prove their innocence. many people in lower chitral have been jailed for submitting wrong affidavits. should the councillors and officials who blindly acted on the affidavits not be punished?
It is not that this time the government functionaries have treated the people of Yarkhun and Laspur, stepmotherly.Since the merger of erstwhile Chitral State in to former NWFProvince, neither our elected representatives, nor the government officers have bothered to attend to the problems of these remotely situated parts of our beloved country, except General Pervez Musharraf (R),Ex-President of Pakistan. These neglected people are still attached to Pervez and pray for him.
The heavy rains, floods and lastly, the horrifying Earth quake of October 26,2015, left the people deprived of every bit of agriculture produce. Every household of these valley deserve free rationing, seeds and fertilizer. However, those who have lost their houses, agricultural fields and orchards deserve emergent assistance. It is a general coplaint that many affectees have been denied government aid, and instead some undeserved people were given cheques. The PTI governments should ensure justice as claimed.
