Snow leopards create panic in upper Chitral village
File photo[/caption] Rehmat Nadir, a resident of Parkusab village near Mastuj, told ChitralToday on phone that the Gujjar shepherd was tending the goats of the village on the hillock near the village when two leopards descended from the high mountains. The shepherded was almost besieged by the leopards but he succeeded to run towards the village to seek help, he added. When a group of people from the village accompanied the shepherded back to the hill, the leopards had killed two goats owned by the shepherded that were grazing a little high in the hill. Mr Nadir said the presence of the wild animals had created panic in the area forcing the people to remain indoors after sunset. He said the people were scared that the leopards would be coming down to the village at night. He said it was unusual to see the rare species after the first snowfall of the winter in the area. ]]>
