GILGIT: Former president and APML chief Gen Pervez Musharraf said people should not trust politicians as they bear their promises.
He was addressing via telephone from Karachi a public gathering held here for the election campaign of APML candidate Noor Wali. Musharraf said during his tenure he had launched lots of development projects in the region including construction of roads and other infrastructure.
He said he also established the first ever university in Gilgit-Baltistan besides starting work on the construction of the Chitral-Gilgit road, Babusar road, Gilgit-Skardu road etc. He said had his government not ended he would have by now changed the fate of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said politicians had from day one bee playing fraud with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and were still trying to hoodwink them in order to get their votes. He said no one should trust the politicians who had always failed to deliver. The APML leader said that he was surprised that nowadays there were lots of talks on the China-Pakistan economic corridor but the area from where this corridor would enter Pakistan was being ignored. He expressed the surprise that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had not been included in the talks process on the corridor project.
He said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had the first right to get benefit of the corridor project, adding if his party got an opportunity he would make the people of Gilgit-Baltistan the major stakeholder I the project. The APML chief said that had his government not been removed under a conspiracy, he would have by now changed the very fate of Gilgit-Baltistan. He asked the people of the region to vote for the APML candidates and give an opportunity to the party to serve the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
