Prisoners participate in cleanliness drive
CHITRAL, Dec 9: On the direction of Inspector General of Prisons KP, a cleanliness drive was held at the district jail Chitral. Additional Assistant Commissioner Mazhar Ali Shah was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Riaz Ahmad, the superintendent of the district Jail, said the objective of the campaign was to sensitize the prisoners about importance of physical and mentally cleanliness. He said that in a clean environment, citizens always though positively.
The chief guest said Islam also emphasized cleanliness and it was a part of our faith. He said that a jail was a place where most of people became good citizens after proper reform. He asked the prisoners to adopt cleanliness and also think positively to become useful citizens and play their vital role in the development of the society.
Social worker Rahmat Ali Jafar highlighted the importance of cleanliness. He also inaugurated the cleanliness campaign by cutting the ribbon. Talking to this scribe some of the prisoners said they were very happy with the launching of the campaign and wanted to give a message to other people to keep their surrounding clean.—GH Fraooqui
