Political interferences destroying school education in Chitral

CHITRAL, May 28: There is no schoolteacher at the Govt Girls Primary School of Rech for the last two years. And the watchman calls the rolls every morning and has started calling the shots. GGPS Shahgram’s boundary wall collapsed two years back and has still not been repaired. It was repeatedly demanded that the education department repair the wall but to no avail, said former UC nazim Saifullah. He said only one teacher was running the school. It was also observed that there was only one teacher at the Govt primary School Zang Lasht while the other two teachers on the payroll of the government were absent since long. There are only two rooms in the new building of the school while the construction of a bathroom was left midway four years back. Interestingly, none of the education department officer bothered to ask the C&W department for the non-completion of the work. The old building of the school is damaged but the students are compelled to sit in the classroom due to lack of pace in the new building. In the area, the GGPS had only two rooms for six classes and one teacher has been working there for four years while the other teacher is appointed in her native village Mastung. When contacted, the DEO (female) Chitral Zohra Jalal admitted that one teacher from Zang Lasht school was living in Mastung. She added that in a school of Reich Valley the daughter of a politician belonging to the PML-N had been appointed but her father by using his sources in the government had got her transferred to Jughoor. The same situation is everywhere across the whole district either there is no teacher or one teacher for six classes. The KP government which has come to power on the slogan of justice has failed to do justice with the education of the people. It may be mentioned here that a piece of land was occupied by the education department for the construction a girls primary school at Shahgram but the department deprived the owner of the land of his right to get a Class-IV employment in the school. Bibi Kai, a widow in the village, said her husband had given a piece of land for the school but soon after he died and the department recruited her against a vacant post of class IV. However, the post of watchman was given to a relative of the district education officer (female), she alleged. Bibi Kai said  her son had passed FA and she wanted him to get the post of watchman which remained vacant. She said the education department was reluctant to appoint her son as a watchman, alleging the EDO (female)  wanted to appoint one of her relatives on the post.  ]]>
