Lowari top road opened for light traffic

DROSH, May 1: Closed for almost over three months, the land route connecting Chitral to the rest of country opened early Thursday. After opening of Lowari Top road passenger vehicles and vehicles laden with edible items including vegetable and fruits have reached Chitral. Pak Army 104 Engineering Battalion had also displayed intimation banners in different parts of Chitral. However it would take some more day for the heavy vehicles. Now the people of Chitral have got rid of the humiliating schedule of Lowari Tunnel. It should be noted that a few days back the social and political elites of Drosh had demanded the concerned authorities to remove snow from Lowari top road and open it for vehicular traffic otherwise they would stage protest campaign. Later, different political and religious parties also demanded the immediate opening of the Lowari top. It is worthy to mention that this year Lowari top road was opened even during the month of January due to hard work of Army engineering battalion which was highly appreciated by the masses.]]>
