Steps urged to promote mother languages

CHITRAL, Feb 21: Speakers at a function held in connection with the Mother Language Day here on Friday asked the KP government to activate the department concerned to promote regional languages. The event arranged by Anjuman Taraqi-e-Khowar Chitral was presided over by Soneri Bank Manager Amir Afzal. Those who spoke on the occasion included Dr Inayatullah Faizi, Mola Nigah Nigah, Ahmed Saeed, Gul Mrad Khan Hasrat, Faraq Andleeb and Allauddin Haideri. Anjuman President Shahzada Tanverul Mulk said that equal opportunities would be provided to all the mother tongues in Chitral. Other speakers stressed the importance of mother languages and called for their preservation. Research papers on Phalola, Gujari and Kalasha languages were also presented on the occasion.
