Wanted a glass of clean drinking water!
CHITRAL, Feb 16: Women in the Bakrabad village near Chitral are forced to fetch water from a contaminated stream at a distance of about two kilometres from their houses near the Chitral town. The consumption of the contaminated water is causing different diseases among the populace but there is no alternative arrangement for supplying the village with clean drinking water.
The women have to carry the water on their shoulders and heads from the stream which is located at a distance of two kilometers from their houses. Besides, the area is also without electricity for the last 20 days due to which the water pumps installed in some localities have also stopped working. Despite these hardships, the government or NGS have not yet done anything to resolve the issue of the village.—GH Farooqui

Shame on the public health department, Chitral, for its apathy towards this most important issue. In this advance era, the women of Chitral town have to carry drinking water on their heads and shoulders and the water is also totally unhygenic. Is it an episode of the highly boasted ‘exemplary governance’ of PTI?
