Chitralis have become political orphans, says QWP leader
DROSH, Jan 15: Qaumi Wattan Party (QWP) Chitral leader Irshad Mukarar has said that the people of Chitral have become political orphans. Mukarar, who was the candidate of his party for the National Assembly seat of Chitral (NA-32), in the May 11, 2013, elections in a press statement said that the local politicians had made tall claims during the elections but after reaching the assemblies the MNA and two MPAs remained untraced. Since the elections, he added, all development works in the valley also remained blocked and stalled. There are lots of issues being faced by the people of Chitral but there is no one who can listen to the problems of the people let alone solve them, he added. Mr Mukarar said that the elected representatives also failed to play their role in getting the under-construction Lowari tunnel open in the winter, forcing the poor people to launch a protest movement and hold a long march that led to the resolution of the issue to some extent at last. He also said that our political leaders are only concerned with the interests of the timber mafia and have no concern with the public issues. —Jahan Jeb]]>
