Mother & child week from 9th

CHITRAL, Dec 5: A mother and child week will start in Chitral from Dec 9. A total of 483 lady health workers will take part in the event in all the 24 union councils with the support of the health department’s paramedical staff. This information was shared with the participants of a meeting here on Thursday. Acting District Health Officer Dr Ibrahim Khan, district heads of the relevant government departments and representatives of civil society organisations reviewed preparations for the week. Dr Ibrahim told the meeting that the week was marked to vaccinate children up to two years, who had missing it, administer anti-worm medicines to the children of 3 to 5 years of age, give anti-tetanus injections to pregnant women, and increase public awareness of hygiene and health.He said it was quite essential to cover the far-flung areas of the district, which had been missed during the vaccination campaign in the past so that not a single child of the age remained unvaccinated.–Zahiruddin]]>
