Tributes paid to Gul Nawaz Khaki
DROSH, Nov 20: At a condolence meeting here, speakers paid rich tributes to Gul Nawaz Khan Khaki for his work to promote the Khowar language and culture.
The reference held at the office of the Preserving Indigenous Culture and Languages (PICL) was chaired by retired principal and Khowar poet and writer Ameenur Rehman Chugtai. The event was attended by poets, literary persons and people from all walks of life.
Speaking on the occasion, local leader of the PPP Akmal Bhutto said with the death of Mr Khakhi not only Chitral had lost one of its literary assets but also the PPP had been deprived of a dedicated and loyal activist and founding leader.
Poet, researcher, author and president of Anjuma Taraqi-e-Khowar Prof Maulana Mohammad Naqeebullah Razi said that Mr Khaki was the identity of Chitral. He said the death of Mr Khaki had created a vacuum in the literary circle of Chitral which would take long time to be filled.
Mr Ameenur Rehman Chughtai and Haji Mohammad Saleem Kamil said that the services of Mr Khaki in the field of Khowar language and literature were a beacon for the young generation.
DADP manager Asfaq Alam, principal Muslim Model School Nasir Iqbal and prominent naat khwan Sajjad of Chitral Ahmed Sajid, also spoke on the occasion and hailed the services of Mr Khaki.
Ejaz Ahmed Ejaz, a young poet and president of PICL did the compering on the occasion. In the end, the participants offered fateha for the departed soul.
