Oveer village to have power plant

CHITRAL, Oct 15: The Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) will construct a 55kw hydropower station for Muzhen village of Oveer valley with the financial assistance of Programme for Economic Activity and Community Empowerment (Peace) Project. An agreement in this regard was inked here the other day between the local community and the SRSP. Speaking on the occasion, SRSP chief executive officer Shahzada Masoodul Mulk assured the people that more development schemes would be initiated in the area for ameliorating their problems. He said funded by the European Union, the Peace project has helped the SRSP to exploit the tremendous potential of hydro-electric generation in the length and breadth of the district. Mr Mulk added that hydro-power generation will bring about a tangible change in the lives of the people. The local community leaders including former union nazim Islam Akbaruddin, Qari Khadeemul Islam and Abdul Waheed eulogised the efforts of the organisation for construction of the hydro-power station in the village.–Dawn]]>
