Two power projects worth Rs56 billion to be launched in Chitral

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Two of the 13 mega projects in the energy sector approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in Islamabad are in Chitral which will be completed at a cost of Rs56 billion. The committee has sent the projects to the Executive Committee on National Economic Council (ECNEC) 13 projects costing around Rs103 billion including foreign aid of Rs8.2 billion relating to the energy sector. The Chitral projects are among the three hydropower schemes sponsored by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They are the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) of Shogo-Sin HPP Chitral costing Rs27 billion and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) of Shushgai HPP Chitral worth Rs29 billion. A total of 425 MW electricity would be produced from the three projects in KPK. These projects will be financed on Public Private Partnership mode – 10 percent of the cost will be borne by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from its resources whereas 90 percent of the cost will be arranged by private sector.]]>
