Terrorism: Two wheat godowns set on fire

CHITRAL, July 24: A mysterious fire damaged two wheat godowns in the Terich village of Torkhow valley, local police have said. The residents of the Zondran Gram locality said that the fire was ignited by unknown terror elements that also affected a few nearby private shops. The in-charge of the wheat sale points said 402 bags of wheat were stored in one of the godown and 175 bags in the other. The police reached the spot one day later and after registering a case are investigating. It may be noted that sale points for wheat provided by the government are set up in different village which are looked after by private people. It is also to be noted that of late there have been rising incidents of terrorism and other crime in almost all parts of Chitral like burglaries, theft, arson attack and even murders. It is difficult to rule out any other motive in the latest incident of fire. In the past, there have also been cases where private people managing these godowns of wheat were accused of and even booked by the police for misappropriating the commodity in connivance with the official of the food department. The police will defenitely investigate the fire incident from all angles.–With reporting by Syed Nazir Hussain Shah]]>
