Chitral Fort clarifies report about detention centres

ISLAMABAD, July 15: The administration of the Chitral Royal Fort has clarified a news item published in ChitralToday titled “Chitral Qilla among seven detention centres for missing persons” on July 11, 2013. A spokesman for the royal fort while talking to ChitralToday on phone from Chitral said no detention centre had ever been set up in the fort by the military or the police. He said the mention of the Chitral Qilla in the story might have referred to some military or other installations being used for detaining any suspect. The Chitral Fort is a private property and establishment of a detention centre on its premises is out of question, he added. It may be noted that the Online news agency story was based on a list presented to the Supreme Court of Pakistan by Attorney General Muner A. Malik during the hearing of the missing persons case.
