Afghan man arrested with 21 kg opium
CHITRAL, July 12: An Afghan man was arrested after the police recovered a huge quantity of opium from his possession here on Friday. District police officer Abdur Rashid Khan said Mir Baiz Khan, a resident of Jaram valley of Badakhshan, was held at Shoghore village of Lotkoh valley with 21 kgs of opium which he had smuggled from his native village. He said that the smuggler had used unused passes bordering Chitral with Badakhshan and that his links to the local smugglers will be established on inquiry. The physical remand of the accused for two days has been obtained from civic judge Mohammad Shoaib Khan. A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of anti-narcotics act while he has also been booked section 14 of Foreign Act for illegally entering the country.–Zahiruddin]]>
