Booni: Earth day function calls for planting more saplings
BOONI, April 22: A function was held in Booni in connection with the International Earth Day on Monday. On this occasion, speakers, including prominent agriculturists of the area, stressed the need to create awareness among the masses to plant more saplings to save the environment from degradation. They said their fruit trees were at the verge of destruction due to the pest attacks and the government had failed to take steps against the menace. They said that due to the rampant pest attacks, speople had lost interest in planning fruit trees. The speakers asked the NGOs and the agriculture department to conduct research on the phenomenon of pest attacks on the fruit trees. On this occasion, Mohammad Wazir, one of the active members of CHEPS, was given the best friend of the earth campaign award for planting over 1,500 saplings in a year in Booni Gol’s Bazan Deh area.
