Call to save Sheshi Koh road from damage
CHITRAL, March 25: The residents of Sheshi Koh valley here on Monday called upon the district government as well as the communication and works department to save their road from being damaged by a constructer. Addressing a press conference, former Nazim UC Sheshi Koh Suhrab Khan, Naib Nazim Zahid Hussain, Councilor Taj Mohammad, Naib Tehsildar AlHaj Abdul Qayum, Maulana Majeed Khan and others said a water supply pipeline was being laid in the middle of the only road to the paradise-like valley, which would destroy the road. They said the road had recently been handed over to C&W department and during the visit of the chief secretary KPK the residents had requested him to stop the contractor from excavation of the road for laying of the pipeline. The chief secretary directed the executive engineer to stop the laying of the pipeline. But even then, the work is going on and the contractor is damaging the main road. They said some 220 million rupees had been earmarked for widening of the road for carrying heavy machinery to the Lawi hydropower station. They said the residents of the area had repaired this road five times on a self-help basis but the contractor of water supply scheme was now destroying it.—GH Farooqui]]>
