Youth enterprises programme launched
CHITRAL, March 16: A youth social enterprises generator programme was launched at the Bacha Khan Campus of Abdul Wali Khan University at Seenlasht on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Shams Wali, a student of the university, said Youth Social Entrepreneurship (YES ) network Pakistan and the AKRSP had provided them a platform to launch enterprises. Now a large number of students are engaged in this programme. Hafiz Javed Iqbal said YES Network is supporting students technically and financially for launching fund generating schemes and also gave them micro-finance (loans). Shahzad Khan, Assistant Professor, said this was a tripartite programme of YES Pakistan, AKRSP and Abdul Wali Khan University to support the youth and to involve them in positive activities to save them from any social evils. Fazal Malik, the youth programme manager of AKRSP, highlighted the aims and objectives of the program and hailed the role of AKRSP for not only guiding the youth but also supporting them financially. He said AKRSP launched youth enterprises generating programme with the financial support of Canadian International Development Agency. “We work on improving leadership quality among the youth as well as guide them to play role for sustainable development of Chitral. YES network Pakistan work with students of different schools, colleges and universities.” Professor Sahibuddin, the Principal of Government College of Management Sciences, said unfortunately Chitral lacked industries and other facilities and we have the only option of human investment to give quality education to our children for development of Chitral. He said there was no facility of career counseling in Chitral and students divided in different sectors. Sohail Abbasi briefed the students about the importance of the programme, adding the subject about youth social enterprises generator was also included in syllabus. He said the main objective of the programme was to enable the youth in playing vital role in sustainable development of their areas and for addressing of social problems. Dr. Inayatullah Faizi concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks to the participants.
