Chitralis pay tributes to Benazir
CHITRAL, Dec 27: Local leaders and activists of the PPP paid tributes to Benazir Bhutto, the slain chairperson of the party, on her fifth death anniversary here on Thursday. At the gathering in Chitral’s town hall, PPP district president and provincial minister for population welfare Saleem Khan was chief guest. The speakers on the occasion recalled the services of Ms Bhutto for democracy. They said Ms Bhutto and his father were the well-wishers of the people of Chitral and worked for the betterment of the people. They said Mr Bhutto was the first prime minister who came to Chitral and worked for the development of the region. Her daughter Benazir Bhutto also came to Chitral so many times and announced different developmental schemes. They said the current PPP government had allocated Rs18 billion for Lowari tunnel which will be completed on time. The PPP leaders criticized Pervez Musharraf for allowing American drone attacks and opening of the US air bases in Pakistan. They said Ms Bhutto was also assassinated during the regime of Musharraf. Saleem Khan on the occasion said Benazir was not only a leader of Pakistan but also the whole Muslims countries. She wanted to unite the Islamic countries for development and mutual cooperation but she was not allowed to achieve the goal. The participants on the occasion also offered Fateha for the soul of Ms Bhutto.
