Lowari Tunnel to open three days a week

CHITRAL, Nov 26: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided to keep the Lowari tunnel opened for passenger vehicles three alternate days a week. Confirming the news here on Monday, DCO Rahmatullah Wazir said the timing for the opening of the tunnel will be 12 noon to 5:30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, he said a meeting has been scheduled with the authorities of NHA and the Korean Construction company Sambu so that the tunnel may be opened daily. He said that the passengers were the worst sufferers after the closure of Lowari Pass and he will try his level best to get the tunnel opened for the public every day. Meanwhile, the passengers reaching here from Peshawar said that hundreds of passengers suffered hardly at Lowari and passed four to eight hours on the snowy road as they were not allowed to pass through.–Zahiruddin]]>
