Explosion near police station
GILGIT, Nov 23: Panic swept through Gilgit town on Friday evening after a homemade explosive device, exploded in a house situated close to the Police Lines. “There were no casualties whatsoever thank God,” DIG Police Ali Sher told The Express Tribune soon after the blast. While there was no fresh congregation, morning processions were returning to their respective mosques when the blast occurred. “And let me tell you the blast had nothing to do with sectarianism,” the DIG clarified, saying that a property dispute had led to the blast as the certain people from Gilgit – Baltistan wanted possession of the house. The house bombed was located near the Police Lines at Konodas area. Referring to initial investigation, Sher said that some people took advantage of darkness in the area and threw the explosive device into the house. He said the aggrieved party had nominated six men, adding that a police team has been dispatched to locate and arrest the suspects.]]>
