Snowfall brings chill

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan received first rains of the winter while snow fallwas also reported in high altitude bringing life to a standstill. Official reports also stated that there were rains in Diamer, Astor, Skardu, Ghanche, Ghizer, Gilgit and Hunza/Nagar districts which abruptly changed the weather and harsh cold waved gripped the whole region. Local Metrological Department disclosed that lower lands received rains while the upper parts of the region witnessed the first snowfall which dropped the mercury to freezing point. Official of the Works Department said the present rains coupled with snow fall did not cause any kind of blockades as all roads were cleared for all kinds of traffic.]]>
