Joint efforts underway to promote regional languages
GILGIT, Oct 23: Vice Chancellor Karakoram International University (KIU) Dr Najma Najam has said collaboration with international educational and other institutions would not only enhance the standard of education at the institution but would also promote small languages spoken in the region. Speaking to a gathering of faculty members at the Musharraf Hall of the university, she said the university was in pursuit of more collaborations at the international level. She said recently the university had also entered into a joint venture with the Oxford University through the British Council in Islamabad. This, she added, would help in promotion of local languages in the region. Dr Najma said that recently she was in Italy where she gave a briefing on the university to a group of educationists and others, including Pakistan’s ambassador which was highly appreciated. She said for the last over three years, she had been working hard to promote the university at the national and international level. A number of faculty members also spoke on the occasion.]]>
