Terichmir varsity in Chitral proposed
CHITRAL, Sept 22: The vice chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal, Upper Dir, Prof Jahandar Shah has proposed that Terichmir University should be set up in Chitral. He said Chitral deserved a university because of its rich biodiversity, cultural, ethnic and linguistic heritage, the most primitive Kalash culture and its proximity to the Central Asian States. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of a month-long workshop on ‘English language teaching; an integrated approach of applied linguistics’ in Chitral campus of the university under the aegis of HEC on Saturday. He said M.Phil programme in English and bio-sciences was also being introduced in the campus this year. HEC DG (services) Farmanullah Anjum said keeping young scholars and teachers abreast with the latest knowledge was the prime objective of HEC.
