DHQ hospital vacancies to be filled soon

CHITRAL, Sept 21: The chief secretary visited the DHQ hospital where he was briefed by its medical superintendent Dr Noorul Islam about the issues of the hospital which caters to the healthcare needs of more than five lakhs of the district. He was told that the hospital faced acute shortage of doctors, nursing and technical staff which included 16 posts of district specialists, 33 medical officers, 20 nurses and 7 technicians. The chief secretary announced to fill all the posts by developing a special strategy to lure the doctor to serve in Chitral initially for a period of two years recruited directly by the department without going through the lengthy selection process of public service commission. He also announced to add an express transmission line of electricity from the local power hydro-power house to the hospital to save it from power outage which hampers the service delivery. He also ordered to functionalize the dialysis machines of the hospital which had been purchased three years ago but lying idle in the hospital premises while the patients went to Peshawar for dialysis.–Zahiruddin]]>
