Xang Bazaar lifts football trophy

CHITRAL, Sept 19: In the District Football Trophy Champion Trophy 2012 final played here on Wednesday, the Xang Bazaar team won  with five goals against Goldor which could not score any goal. Chief Secretary Khyber Pahtunkhwa Ghulam Dastagir was chief guest on the occasion. The theme of the tournament organized by Hashoo Foundation was ‘Safer tomorrow disaster preparedness in schools’. Addressing on the occasion, Regional Programme Manger of the foundation Sultan Mehmood said the main objective of the tournament was to create awareness regarding disaster preparedness and rescue spirit amongst the youth. He thanked the Chief Secretary and other senior officers for participating in the tournament. The Chief Secretary highly appreciated the talent of the Chitrali youth in football and other games. He however regretted that there was no stadium for the youth of Chitral. He announced construction of a fully-fledged public stadium in Chitral and Rs600,000 for the paragliding team. He also announced Rs20,000 for the winner and Rs10,000 for the runner up team. The Chief Secretary also announced cash award for two special persons – Amjad and Khan. Later, he distributed the trophy and cups among the players. At the end, players of both the teams presented folk dance on the beating of drum and expressed solidarity with each other.
